On your first visit to St. Paul’s, we hope you will find our church to be warm, friendly and inviting. Please let the Ushers be of help to you to find the Sanctuary, Nursery, Parish Hall, Prayer Team, or Restrooms.  Here are a few things that you may want to know before making that first visit… 

What to expect?
Our prayers and worship range from modern to ancient using the Book of Common Prayer displayed on large overhead screens. We worship in a style very similar to the early Christians through word and sacrament by standing, kneeling, or sitting in pews as you are able.  After the Processional, we hear the word of God read before the congregation; pray and supplicate; and then expounded upon by the preacher in a Sermon. After God’s word moves us by convicting, convincing or comforting us, we take communion as the Gospel says, the Body and Blood of Christ, to feed us daily with His forgiveness and grace.  We express our desire to one day join with all the family of God at His heavenly feast on the last day.
Our worship style invites participation from the congregation using overhead screens to follow along. Please know, however, that you cannot “mess up” during worship. You will see different people honoring God in a variety of fashions; please don’t feel like you have to follow. You may be as active or passive a worshiper as you like. Until you feel comfortable with a participatory worship service, no one will ever make you feel uncomfortable. Your worship is between you and God. St. Paul’s welcomes you to join and learn Biblically with us.
If you visit during the 7:45 am service, you can expect the Eucharist to be typically small, quiet and contemplative in a traditional service without music and is usually 45 minutes.  If you visit us at the 10:00 am service, you will find a very family-friendly Eucharist service for your worshiping convenience. The music will be a thoughtful, and encouraging blend of traditional and contemporary praise and worship from our Music Ministry.  This service is usually 75 minutes and offers options for parents with infants or elementary age children to participate in our Children’s Ministry.

Where to park and go?
St. Paul’s offers parking in front of the church for elderly, handicapped or with mobility issues, and along Main Street for first time visitors. We have wheelchair accessibility for the Sanctuary and Parish Hall. If our parking lot in front of the church fills, there are spaces in back near the nursery and playground area along Applewhite Lane, as well as immediately across the street in the library parking lot. Parking in the back requires the ability to navigate steps to the Sanctuary or Parish Hall.

What to wear?
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” (Matthew 6:25)
At St. Paul’s, we believe that God cares a great deal about your heart, but not so much about your clothes. So dress up or dress down. Wear jeans or a three-piece suit, shorts or flip-flops if you wish. God loves you just the same! No one will ever make you feel out of place here. Come as you are!

What about My Children?
St. Paul’s Children’s Ministry provides staff to teach about Jesus. We have a nursery available for infants to 3 year olds. The nursery is staffed by two trained people each week and can be located around back through the double doors just to the playground steps. Parents can drop off those children beginning at 9:50AM and pick up before or after communion, or immediately after the 10AM service ends.
The youngest members of our church family, between ages 4-12 years, begin an age-appropriate lesson in the Parish Hall during the 10:00 AM worship service with our Children’s Director.  After the sermon, these children join their parents in church for Communion at the end of the service.Of course, your children are also welcome to sit with you, no matter their ages, if this is more comfortable for you or for them.Crying or fussy babies are also welcome to join the Nursery anytime during the service by accessing the doors to the left of the Altar and going to the end of the hall.
Though there will be a offering plate passed during our service to give people an opportunity to respond to God’s goodness through their tithes and offerings, this is not expected of visitors or newcomers. We do have a Connection Card in the pews for you to provide us with a name and number to thank you for joining us during the week. The card can also be used for prayer requests.
